Dear Experts,
We are currently implementing SAP PM for managing our retail stations maintenance processes.
We will provide access to external personnel working around Italy via SAP Enterprise Portal. In order to make their work easier, we are developing some custom transactions on the portal as standard PM transactions are sometimes too complex for the type of activity done by external personnel. Nevertheless, from the Portal we need to call standard SAP transaction in display or change mode (for example,
equipments, assembly, functional locations). When we are connected via modem and try to call a standard SAP transaction from the portal we got an error as the SAP system cannot be entered from external source unless authorized. It seems that the SAP portal calls SAP and wait for an answer, while we tough we could call SAP transactions natively through the portal. In order to allow this we have understood we have two options :
1) either to use a VPN connections (but this have some drawbacks for the external personnel as while connected to our VPN there are isolated from running other internet application or from connecting to their own LAN)
2) or to install the WEB Dispatcher we have been told is what SAP advise in this case (but it does requires a separate machine where to install it)
It sounds very strange to us we cannot call standard SAP transaction directly from the portal without passing through the SAP system : do you experienced similar scenario? how do you advise to proceed ?
Thank you very much in advance for your help
