SAP R3 Database layer and Oracle

What is the relation with SAP's 3 tier architecture (database layer) and Oracle? If I migrate to Oracle, does that mean this database layer is the same and the migration process is easier?

Hi Nigel,

"database layer is the same", what is your expectation for "same", any way SAP abap could are roughly the same for any database.

Also from infrasturacture point of view, the structure is the same for any database...
