Comparison terms for SPL Master Data

Dear All,

Can anyone please explain what is the significance of Comparison terms and how they are useful in SPL screening? and why do we generate comparison index

I have gone through the help.sap documentation, but did not understand clearly. Any help is appreciated

To enable SPL screening,you need to configure the control settings for comparison terms. This setting enables the SPL data as well as Business Partner (Customer, Vendor, Employee..) data to convert in to a comparison index of the search term. For SPL check, the system uses the comparison check of the search term generated to display the results.
