Reports lose the predefined categories

Hi Experts,

we are facing with a strange issue in our system and I think you may able to help us. We use SAP BO 4.1 sp7 fp3. The users reach the reports through corporate categories and during the confirmation process the report loses its category.
Our confirmation process is the following:

  1. Developer copies the report to its my favorites folder
  2. Do the development.
  3. The admin checks the report with rich client in the developer’s my favorites folder and saves the report as into the original path (overwrites the previous version).

Through this process the reports lose the predefined categories. Is there a way to avoid the losing of categories?

Thank you for your help in advance and keep up the good work.

Regards,
Csaba

Hello Csaba,

While updating the report using WRC, Does the CUID of the report changes? Kindly make sure whether you are replacing the report without CUID changes as every category assignment is associated with report individually at report level.

Thanks

Hello Mani,

The copied version of the report which was updated saved as on the original report. Because of this the original report keeps its CUID and istances but loses its category settings. So after the development process the end users could not see anymore the report among their business categories.

I hope I could clarify with this the whole process, if not please do not hesitate to raise more questions.

Thanks

Csaba

are you not losing category when moving report from public folder to favourite?

If not then instead of save as from rich client follow these steps and see.

1) Goto the CMC and first move the standard report in backup folder.

2)Right click on the report in favioutr folder and oragnise ->Move. Follow this process to move the report and see.

Hi Amit.

Thank you for your reply. But the issue with this solution is the report under development couldn't be moved. This is the reason why we copy it. In BO XI 3 environment this process worked without losing the category settings. Is that a new feature in 4.x?

Thanks in advance.
