Material selection for refurbishment

Dear Gurus

I have one problem for selecting material for Refurbishment process

One equipment say 1000 is installed at FL XYZ

Equipment is pump with constuction type in constuction it is assembly of materials

N -valve ,N-Bearing & so many more which are material

when I double click on construction type it is showing only two screens basic 1& basic 2 not others

How this euipment can be mapped for refurbishment process

Since it should be material first I am confused can you give me answers

which will be very helpful for me

Chandrashekhar ,"How this euipment can be mapped for refurbishment process" ,the construction type does not to do with this question.

You should care about the SERIAL NUMBER MANAGEMENT and IE4N .

The problem with this scenario is the Material Type i.e. Maintenance Assemblies. Standard SAP treats this material type only for structuring purpose (As only Basic Data1, Basic Data2 and Classification Views can only be maintained). Therefore neither the movement, nor the valuation is allowed for materials with this material type.

One way of resolving the problem would be:

1. Create Material Master as Operating Supplies Material Type and mainatin all the relevant data.

2. In order to reflect materials as PM Assemblies in the BOM of Equipment, Check the indicator PM Assembly in the BOM header of the Equipment.

I tried the first oneanswer , create material as operating supply

existing Material cannot be changed to operating sulpply

Means Say assembly xyz if I want to change it to xyz operting supply it is not allowing

Secondly I have to create new material & copy it from assembly XYZ

Now When I do this The material number is new then I have to change the equipment master existing Material to new is it right .

Now about your second answer I donot Understand what to do can you go in detail with t codes so that I can try

Hi

There is a provision of changing the material type in Standard SAP. Kinldy consult your MM Consultant for this since it is dependent on various elements within MM.

My second answer was for Equipment Bills of Material. If you are maintaining Equipment BOM then you will have to include the newly created materials in the relevant Equipment BOM and additionally you will have to mark this operating supply as PM assembly in the item header.

secondaly the existing material cab be changed to valuation type or not

My issue is I have to select the material for refurbsiment from the existing system which is implemeted already without refurbishment .

Now I have to give decision to business that which material they have take for refurbishment .

Now here comes the situation actual .

One equipment is installed at FL say XYZ

This euipment has material in consrtuction type.

but it is not material but assembly (It contains valves ,bearing etc)

So when I select construction type which is assembly of materials

Naturally it will show only two views in MM Basic 1& Basic 2.where ideally for our process we require accounting view .

Now my question is how I can map this equipment since it has assembly in construction type

Den double click on the maintenance assemblies it will show User department where the u can check wheather the MM guy mention Accounting view in that configuration if not plz as him to do so.

another thing is important dont forget the assign the valuation type to that material

my understnading one word reply is any maintenance assembly materails (IBAU) type inventory is not possible as std SAP wise.

Dear

Refurbishment is possible only for materials. If you have to perfom refurbishment of an equipment, create material for it and use serial numbers to link your equpment with that material. Only then refurbishment would be possible.
