Setting up FAX (RightFax) from SAP

Hi,

We are currently planning to implement Fax from SAP. We have a RightFax Server which is already used by many applications like people soft in our company.

SMTP is configured in the server and is working properly. As per the documents i have read , i have created a node for FAX in SCOT and i have to give a RFC Destination to Faxserver from SAP.

Please help me in creating a RFC Destination from SAP.

Thanks,

Tanuj

Hi Tanuj,

You need to setup a RFC with probably a name like: SAPCONNECT_FAXSERVER (although it doesn't matter what name you put).

You need to put the following params

RFC Type: T (TCP/IP )

Activity Type: Registered Server Program

ProgramID : Choose one according to RightFax documentation (e.g RightFax.sapgate)

Gateway options:

Gateway Host: <SAP App server>

Gateway Service: sapgw<SAP Instance Number>

Once the above RFC is created update it in the SCOT node and then run a test.

Tanuj - Did you get this issue resolved? We also use Rightfax and if you have questions I can perhaps help further.

Tried your advice, some time work, some not working and SAP RFC connection reported that RightFax.sapgate not registered.

Jason can you see right fax services registered in smgw --> logged on clients. Service name will some something like <hostname>.sapgate and SAPGATE.

if you cant see these services it means your rightfax server is not connected to your SAP system.  You should start there.

Is this still a problem for you?  If your external RFC is sometimes working and sommetimes not working it might be an issue related to multiple app servers.  Do you have multiple app servers and have you tested the RFC connection from each one?

Often RFC's are setup in ways that work with only 1 application server (not load balanced through the message server or mapped to a specific non-HA gateway server).  And some external applications can only communicate with an SAP system via 1 application server (making a highly available system a little harder to configure).

What operating systems are you using for both the external application and the SAP system?

It's been a few years since I used RightFax with SAP, some old notes I've got say to configure the link to SAP from the RightFax windows server, there should be 'SAP Connnector' icon in control panel that you can use to do so, from memory this logs into the SAP system builds the RFC destination for you

but... I'm talking about RightFAX 8.5 from back in 2002!

Hi Daniel,

I'm working on SAP ECC6 and I have to send a large amount of fax to RightFax 8.5.

We have a lot of SAP documents (in particular "Dunning notices" that are converted in spools) that have to be send automatically to RightFax. We configured [from SPAD transaction] a new output dispositive [XXXX] in which we set our RIGHTFAX, but when we print our spool to this dispositive [XXXX] it doesn't work. We are near to the solution because from Faxutil of Rightfax we see a yellow traffic light (for the status) in which there is written "Information Incomplete".

In oder to send fax we didn't configure SAPCONNECT (we configuered it only in order to send mails) because we don't how to make it, I mean we didn't know wich external program do we have to call in the configuration of RFC destination linked to our node to send a FAX.

May you help me about how you configurated your RFC connection in order to send FAX?

Thank you
