Infoobject catalog within new modeling tools

Hi all,

just a quick question concerning new modeling tools.

When creating or changing new infoobjects, we are missing two functionalities

Curently running Eclipse NEON with modeling tools 1.154 we cannot provide Infoobject short AND long text description. Infoobject description is long text and will be pushed in short description text as well.

Any idea how to overcome that problem (we like to provide abbrivation in short and human friendly long text in long desctiptive text for Infoobjects (e.g. "Cust. Sales" AND "Customer Sales point of view").

Second missing item is the functionality to add an infoobject to infoobject catalogs. Only thing I found at SAP is to use Infoareas instead.

We'd used Infoobject catalogs to add infoobjects to multiple catalogs ( in project approach) to see whether an Iobj is used in project or not)

Any idea if there is some fancy hidden feature to reuse Iobj catalogs ( except using ABAP to manually encode the settings to Iobj tables 🙂

Hi,

Depending on your BW Backend InfoObject Catalogs can be replaced already with InfoObjects stored in InfoAreas form 7.50 SP04 onwards.

Some of the Functionality is also dependend of the latest Version of the BW-MT Version 1.16 - SAP First Guidance – Implementing BW-MT as the new SAP BW Modeling Experience

As an Alternative you might use the WebDynpro based InfoObject Maintenance - SAP First Guidance – complete functional scope (CFS) for SAP BW 7.50

Best Regards Roland
