Hi.Problem with material master

Hi All

there was mistake in creation of a material.i wrongly entered the industry sector.Is it possible to change the same now.Or what best can be done.

Hi Lakshmana,

Its bettet to set deletion flag for the material & create a new one.

Also you can change the material description for eg."Created with Error, Don't use". so that no one uses this material.

Is it in production system & any restrictions in creating a new material. In this case, is it affecting any of your reports or business process. Please let me know...

Use Tcode MMAM (Change material type). This will allow you to change material type, however, you will have to remove the material from any open POs, remove from existing recipes. The transaction will suggest you to modify the existing data related to the material.

You need not delete the material instead you can go to MM01, create material screen in the main menu tap the defaults button then you get a popup, giving material type to material type change material type again you get a radio button asking to show default material type change the radio button not to view your old mat type the old values can be regenerated without any change. You can use this and proceed.

As per my knowledge Industry Sector cannot be changed after creation of material master.
