Hi all
we are using EP 7.0.
Accidently we made a wrong entry in the master rule for portal desktop. The entry is defined for "*" (that means for all users).
Now nobody can log into portal.
How am i suppose to correct that entry? Is there any way to do it using Visual Administrator?
very urgent
Thanks in advance
regards
shankar
Hi,
Not sure if the emergency user uses the main_rules for the desktop.
Other alternatives:
1. You could also try to see if the direct link to the display rules page works
2. Try transporting the main_rules from another working system and importing it through
Good luck

Hi Ameya,
Yes, you are right in that the direct urls require logon.
But if you have a corrupt desktop I believe you are able to logon (since the logon page doesn't use the desktop rules), but you don't get any content since the framework page is not defined. Therefore, you are technically logged on, but you can access the functionality through the menus as you would normally.

Hi,
First one is probably a temporary object (created through preview functionality)
Try
1. Log in
2. Change address to
(if you don't do 1. you get access denied for link in 2)
PS the second link posted in my earlier post should work (if you want to try out transporting the display rules)
Cheers

Hi Shankar,
We are getting same issue.
We are working on Portal 7.31.
By accidentally we made a wrong entry in the master rule for portal desktop. The entry is defined for "*" (that means for all users). Now nobody can log into portal.
We able to logon into Portal but its showing blank page.
Can you please suggest me how to resolve this issue.
Thanks,
Naveen
Hello Naveen,
did you delete the other entries in the master rule?
Maybe the one for the classic-desktop is still there. So please try http://<server>irj/portal/classic after logging into your portal to see, if it's changing to the classic-desktop (this helped me some time ago, when I was a little quick with activating not so ready desktops^^). Then you could easily repair the master rule for the users.

Steffi.
Hi Steffi,
Issue is resolved.
I didn't deleted any entries in the master rule.
To access Content admin using below direct 1st URL, once you logon into the url and then enter second url and modify the master rule.
Access System admin using below direct URL to access Master Rule Collection to fix the wrong rules.
Thank you for your support!!
Thanks,
Naveen
Hello Naveen,
great! I tried finding the right urls for you in 7.3, but I couldn't find a way to the master rule collection directly and hoped somebody else could provide it for you. I'm glad, you found another way to get to that and solve your problem.
Thank you for posting you solution here. That will help others, too.
Regards,
Steffi.
Hi,
I am not very sure but you should try this using emergency user or also called as SAP*. You need to activate this user ,
Start the config tool, and look for the property named "ume.superadmin.activated" set value as TRUE
"ume.superadmin.password" and set any password for it,
Now open the login page and put user id as SAP* and password that you just mentioned.Once logged on , correct the entry that you made and save.
PS : Do not forget to deactivate SAP* user in exact oppositw way you activated it.
Hope this solves your problem.
