what is the blank field concept in release strategy?

suppose i have multiple value for my charch. material group in classification view of release strategy

ex. material group--001

material group --002

now if i create a po with 2 line items and 1 lin item is having material group -001

& 2nd line item having -material group-002

is this po is going to be blocked due to strategy or not?

Hi

You cannot have an item release in the PO, the system has been designed to work from the header data.

If you try to use any line item data you might be able to get it to work but it will only use the first item on the PO.

You should have known that the 'blank' value is only assigned to your material group to cover the case of multiple line item PO where the material group of each and every line item is completely different. Therefore, what you have to do is to make sure that any material group you are going to use in your PO should be assigned to your material group release characteristics via Transaction CL20N.

For your case I think if you use "Blank" value for your characteristic for matl group02 then only system triggers release strategy and that will be of material group 01 otherwise it wont.

I think if you are keeping 2 release strategies for matl group 01 and 02 respectively then system gets confused for which strategy it should apply.For this reason it is not applied at that time.

But if you keep release stry for 001 and blank for 002 then system picks up 001 stry as 002 is blank.

i have only one release strategy for po and in that my charact. are

matkl &bstyp

in matkl i have assigned two values 001 & 002

for bstyp i have NB

now what i understand is if po is created with DOCUMENT type NB

and material group either 001 or 002

po should get block and it means that we can put multiple values for any characterisitcs and if system finds any of these in po creation system blocks the po

and it is not like if system finds all the values of them in po then only po gets blocked

is it correct or i am wrong ?? please suggest

i am not having clearity on the use of multiple values in single strategy

please throw some light on that

Hi,

Please choose the Header fields for Multiple Release Strategy Logic,Basing on that Approval Authorization will be given to user's, If you choose the Line Item Fields and If they are different for Various lines, The Release Strategy will not work.
