Changing role from Technology consultant to Development consultant

Hi Gurus,

I'm XI technology consultant and I've been working in this field for past 1 year now I'm planning to change the role from Administration to Development.

1. How difficult/easy it is?

2. Anyone does this before?

3. Is it possible to utilize both skills in a project? If yes then how?

4. Any benefits in doing this? (in terms of Job Opportunity, Salary)

5. Any other comments

I have little knowledge of ABAP and few XI scenarios.
