Hi All,
We will like to know periodic background job requirements in systems like MDM. May be rough volume of these jobs (defination) will help.
Do these systems have process chains like BI and APO systems.
Also do these systems have some interfaces with ECC / R/3 systems to transfer the data. (for e.g. in APO we have CIF interface)
Thanks a lot for all your help.
Best Regards,
Vithal
Hi All,
Thanks a lot for your quick reply. Just to summarize what you said
There are hardly any business jobs running in MDM (all mentioned by Alok are basis / system cleaning jobs).
And most of the data is processed thru already build interfaces using XI.
Just want to know approximate volume of batch jobs (say per day or per month) in your productive MDM system.
Best regards,
Vithal

Hi Vithal
Regarding the 3rd point : do these systems have some interfaces with ECC / R/3 systems to transfer the data. (for e.g. in APO we have CIF interface)
MDM has both import manager as well as Syndicator server for data import and distribution. Data from ECC or R3 can flow to MDM data manager thru Import manager via XI.We have standard Tcode like MDMGX and MDM_CLNT_EXTR for extraction of data from SAP as xml files and the same can be uploaded via Import manager in MDM. Other way is to trigger IDOC from SAP which will be converted to xml file in XI and imported to MDM.
For syndication again XI comes in Picture.Data from MDM has to be exported in xml format to XI which will convert them to IDoc using the standard maps and structures and will update the R3 system.
Award points if found suitable.

Hi Zanwar,
my apologies for wrong answer.
as per my knowledge, i only know these things.
1. Periodic background job requirements in systems like MDM may be.
Ans: - seeing for MDM server heartbeat
- Import & Syndication server start/stop process
- MDM server performance
- maintaning & cleaning log files
etc.
2. Do these systems have some interfaces with ECC / R/3 systems to transfer the data. (for e.g. in APO we have CIF interface)?
Ans: yes, MDM have Generic extractor (mdm_clnt_extr) and MDMGX to extract data from R3 systems.
- also you can use custom scenarios using XI as middleware
like: Proxies, Idocs.
- Abap apis is another method to integrate R3-MDM.
3. Do these systems have process chains like BI and APO systems?
Ans: i think mdm have but nort sure.

Alok
