Adding a new field in Table Maintenance

I need to add a field to a table and I need it to appear in the Table maintenance too. I have found instructions saying that I need to delete the existing table maintenance and recreate it, however, when I do this, all the fields loose their names and properties, size etc.

Is there a way to add the field without loosing all this information?

Or is it possible that I'm doing it in the wrong way?

Thank you

Is your new field and existing fields using custom defined data elements ? Also is this new field a part of the table key ?

You're doing it the wrong way. Deleting and recreating is valid only for the table maintenance dialog (or you may just click the change button to regenerate the dynpro and the program), not for the DDIC table itself.

Hello Lee,

Table maintenance generator always take the field description from the Data element first and then from screen text(if data element not present).

Somebody have maintained the description at screen level so when you deleted TMG,all description have gone.

Better way will be to create the data elements and provide description there so it will be permanent, you can delete your TMG any time.

try the following steps .

Declare the new fields in PAI.

scn1.png (158.3 kB)
scn2.jpg (63.4 kB)
scn3.jpg (78.8 kB)
scn4.jpg (89.2 kB)
