In warehouse no SU type could be determined for pack. mat. type 0001 ?

Hi,

I am trying to move a Handling Unit from a Production Storage Location to a HU managed Storage Location. I am trying to perform this operation directly in HUMO by performing

Edit-> Change HU Posting -> Storage Location.

But this is generating an error saying that "In warehouse no. XX, no SU type could be determined for pack. mat. type 0001"

Should I just add the SU type in IMG under

Logistics General -> Handling Unit Management -> Basics -> Warehouse Management -> Assign Storage Unit Type to Packaging Material Type

Please advice..

Hi,

whenever you try to post HU into warehouse the system cannot determine the storage type for the material inside the packaging material so you need to assign assign a packaging material type to each storage unit type. When you putaway a storage unit, the system uses the packaging material type of the handling unit to determine and propose a storage unit type. The storage unit type is essential for putaway, and influences the putaway strategy.

As you mentioned regarding the cutomizing setting please proceed to do the same to solve your problem

Is there an exit or BADI to avoid have 2 master datas to manage. At my client side, you would like to use only 1 Packaging material type to several Storage Unit Type (to avoid side-effects).
