Hello gurus

I would like to know, how to update the finished products costs after production process in SAP ByDesign.

Our customer uses Moving Average as cost method for all his products, raw materials and finished products.

So they only need that the average cost of finished products will be the result of calculation of average costs of all raw materials (as parts) that compose the finished product after a production process.

I've read the help center about all the views in Inventory Valuation about real costs, Actual cost rollup, allocation, release... but help documentation it's very confusing and I really don't know the steps to do the simple process that I explained with possible accounting impact in Inventory.

Dear Jaime Dominguez Cobo,

Please kindly refer to help document 'Material Cost Estimates'. To find it, you can search with 'Material Cost Estimates' in help center.

The material cost estimates function enables you to cost out your finished and semifinished materials and update the material master data with the calculated costs. Costs are rolled up from the input components, services, and overhead items to the semifinished materials, and from there to the highest-level material in the costing structure. The material master data can be updated with the calculated costs by releasing the cost estimate. Both single-level and multilevel release are supported. This function is available in the Material Cost Estimates view of the Inventory Valuation work center.
