    Hi,

For connectin MDM to R3 and extracting the data from R3, you need to use IDOCs as R3 can extract data only in the form of IDocs.

The other alternative is you can use proxies, RFCs or BAPIs.

But preferably IDOCs can be used as they have a SAP standard defined.

After the data comes in the IDOC they can be send to MDM with the help of some standard programs.

    Thanks,

    Minaz.

    Hi,

Generally connection between MDM and R/3 is established through XI.This is because R/3 sends data in form of IDocs and MDM accepts flat files or XML so we need XI to convert IDocs to Flat file or XML.

    hi,

    Connection between R/3 and MDM:

From R/3 we will extract/outbound the data in the form of IDOC's.. MDM will not undersatand the IDOC messages. XI will convert IDOC messages to XML messages. Using IM/IS we will load the data to MDM Server.

    Regarding R/3 --> XI > MDM, MDM > XI --> R/3 scenario's follow the links:

    hope this may help you,

    Hi Haroon,

for extracting the data from R3 to MDM, you can use the following option:

1.MDMGX-MDM generic extractor for extracting all the reference data (look up table data) from R3 to MDM. use can use the transaction as "MDMGX".

2.Extract the master data (Main table data) from R3 to MDM, you can use the transaction as "MDM_CLNT_EXTR".

the above these two transactions, the standard transaction for extracting the R3 data to MDM.

Insteed of these two option, you can go with IDocs, Proxies etc. but out of these option like IDOC or Proxy, go with Idoc as SAP is recommanded.

    Hope this will help you,

    Regards,

    Saurabh..
