No Value in Bex-Workbook planning query IP BW 7.0

Hello Planning experts

I just like to confirm my understanding:

Even in case there are no planning data available a planning enabled query will still show editabel planning rows. Therefore it is not necessary to create as a workaround '0' values with a function.

Thanks and welcome every answer, which helps me to understand

Hi,

It is not always that you get new input ready rows for a planning query; it depends on your query's design. As an example, if you have a time characteristic like 0calday above the keyfigures in columns, and no data present for the query to fetch, you wont get input ready rows.

Hello Maynka

Are you sure about this. In fact I didn't understand the issue with 'no data present for the query to fetch'.

Lets assume, that in cost center planning the columns are from 1 to 12 (0Calmonth) and the rows are inidviudal cost elements. Now I hope, that the planer can input for each cost element and month the planned amount even there exist no data yet. Do you see it also in that way?

Best regards

There are two ways in which you can create a query with 12 columns - one for each month.

One is to create 12 individual restricted KFs - restricted by each month; this will work fine for you even if you dont have any data that the query can display when it is run. You will get blank rows to enter new combinations.

The other way is to have just one KF in columns and put 0calmonth above it and restriction 0calmonth to 'jan-dec' in filter so that it leads to 12 columns being displayed. In this case, if there are some records already that the input query can display, then you will be okay (you can edit those rows being displayed and also enter fresh combinations in the input ready row below them). But if there is no data present, then the output will be the message saying 'no data found' and no input ready new row will appear.

Hope I am more clear this time.
