Scheduling Planning Sequence for embedded BPC

Hello,

I am created business rules for my embedded BPC Model and created planning functions to execute the rules. I need to schedule this business rules to be run daily and so, I have created planning sequence for it. However, when I execute the Planning Sequence via Process Chains, I get an error that the name of the environment is illegal. It should have only A-Z, 0-9 and _. Can you please help me resolve the issue?

Oh so you want to execute a business rule.. that makes everything easier!

Then you can definitely schedule executions under two options:

Via PCs (As you said, apply note: 2476459)

Or via job using program: BPC_TASK_SEQ_TEST (check note: 2525443 - How to execute business rule from backend for BPC embedded model)

Hi Prakash, I think that's because the planning function (if standard) is BPC model/environment independent. When you execute that via BPC means the BPC environment and model will be set in the OLAP area of the user's session, which will then be read in the planning function.

When you schedule that via PC, these values won't be there in the OLAP area hence the error.

What PF are you trying to run?

    Hi Lucas,

Thank you for the response. I am trying to run a PF to calculate Net Income from PnL and load it into Balance Sheet Retained Earnings.

If that the case, Planning Functions or Planning Sequences can never be scheduled as back ground jobs. I would be surprised if that were the case because no business would accept that embedded BPC would lack the capability to schedule their business logic.

I see that SAP released a note to correct it in RSPLAN via user paramaters, just not the process chains.

    Hi Lucas,

Thank you so much for the response. I have seen the note 2476459 and raised a ticket to SAP that they put in code to fix the issue for RSPLAN but not for Process Chains. Haven't received any response on the ticket yet. btw I didn't like the user parameter solution in that note. It restricts us to just use 1 environment and model since changing user parameters would be a pain every time.

BPC_TASK_SEQ_TEST uses XML to run just like Standard BPC but it is easy to change the paramters like period every month in DM packages but not in that XML for the program. A backup solution is to write a wrapper on that program and send in teh changed XML parameters if I don't get any valid solution.
