retrieve PO number in print program

The process to print a smartform for a particular PO consists of triggering of smartform by a print program. print program is triggered by output type. Output type is trigerred for a particular document. In my case document is Purchase Order.

My query is: At runtime how do we determine the purchase order number for which smartform has to be processed.

Is it fetched using some function module ? I am not sure about this but I think function module ME_READ_PO_FOR_PRINTING has to be used for this purpose. Please clarify this as well.. If this can be used then what will be the values for its import parameters..

Another query is whether the print program should be declared as an executable program or as a subroutine pool as I see that for the standard SAP form for PO , print program is a subroutine pool ...(looks like that 😉 )

No need to write any new drive program

    use this driver program SAPFM06P

and assign it to form using NACE
