How to trigger 2 different workflows based on release steategies

Hi,

I have created 2 workflows for PR release.

WF1 --> with 3 levels, should be triggered for strategy 'RS1'

WF2 -->with 2 levels, should be triggered for strategy 'RS2'.

Whenever a PR is created, relevent workflow should be triggered based on the release strategy mentioned for created PR.

Currently I am placing condition at the start of both workflows and checking IF RELEASESTRATEGY is true or false. Based on that workflow is continued or cancelled. But this seems like a crude method as :

1) all workflows have to be linked to the event and will be triggered atleast once then continued or cancelled ( based on CONDITION at the start)

Is there any setting I can do in SWE2 so that it selects the only workflow which matches incoming release strategy??

SAP release: ECC 6.

Thanks.

You can put some start condition in SWB_COND for triggering of Wflow. You can also create a Check Function Module that will check the parameters whether the Wflow should be triggered or not.

    Thanks

    Hi,

you could actually create a single WF for any number of Approver levels, which is a bit complex, but very efficient.

    1. You need to have a Release Strategies set with different Release Groups.

    2. You need to build your WF definition in such a way that depending on Release codes, Release Groups and Release Status it will identify the number of approvals and work accordingly.

else as our WF Gurus suggested, use SWB_COND where you can differentiate your Number of Approvers and create different WF's.

But ideally not recommended as say for instance tomorrow if you have 5 more Release groups in place, then you have to develop 5 more WF's.

    Hope it helps,

    Aditya
