If I use this approach -
Abap Client Proxy -- XI -- Abap Server Proxy
For Alerts (like sender or receiver system/service down, data incorrect during mapping)

It depends upon your requirment if the below blog will be sufficient for you or not.
This blog will be enough for creating the simple alert notifications for failuers in the interface (i.e. Communication channel, Mapping etc)
The complexity of the Alert Managment will be based on criticality of your Interface requirments.
I will kindly suggest you to imply the alert configuration as per below blog.
It will help you to give you the detail information about the working of Alerts.
Then probably you could mould the alert configurations as per your exact requirments.
