Logistics Planning (Transportation Lane)

Hi All,

I have a question relating to SAP solution for a business process which involves 3rd party logistics handling, not sure if this is the correct forum to post this, but if anyone has implemented this scenario, can you please guide me:

Scenario:

The vendors supplying parts to our plant are located in different countries & hence we have outsourced the logistics to a 3rd party. In our earlier implementation the vendors themselves managed the logistics & hence we had a 2 step confirmation i.e. Order Acknowledgment & ASN. But now with the 3rd party logistics handler, we need to add one more confirmation key.

We are using ICH. So if anyone has implemented a solution for a similar scenario, can you please advice. I went thru' SAP ICH help file & it mentions Transportation Lane in APO, can someone advice me what is it?

Await inputs.

Vivek

Hi Vivek,

Transportation lane in APO:

Transportation lanes control the material flow along the supply chain.

Defines the transportation method, ie., means of transport( might be Truck, Plane, Ship etc )

Also determines the transportation cost, transportation capacity by volume, weight etc.

Defines the transportation cost per unit, product and transportation methid.

You can find the scheduling aggrements that you had created in R/3, the planned delivery time etc..

Path to create transportation lane:

SAP menu->APO->Master Data->Transportation lane->Transportation lane

or Transaction: /SAPAPO/SCC_TL1

reward points if you found it useful...

Rajendra.

Mr. Rajendra,

Thanks for your valuable inputs. But i would like to know how can i set up my requirement in ICH? At the moment there is only 2 confirmations & both are done by the vendor. How can i integrate the logistics company in this flow, so they can create the 3rd confirmation for us?

Hope my question is clear. If anyone has worked or implemented a similar scenario, can you please advice?

Vivek
