How to settle items not settled in a prior period that is closed

Dear All,

We are facing an issue in our business unit. We have discovered Instances of items not settled in a prior period that is now closed.

We cannot run settlement for the current period because the prior period is not settled. The unsettled period is already closed and the year (2007) is closed as well. Obviously we cannot open the year/period. Is there a work around to get those items settled?

The error message we get when trying to run the settlement in the current period is;

"First Settle items from the previous year in the previous year"
