Hi All,

I have approx 80 Sybase instances ( mix of both versions 15.0, 15.7) running on 31 physical machine (OS= Linux). i want to migrate all sybase instances on virtual machines. As per my information there is a license cost applied from sybase running on virtual machine, kindly help to quantify total cost of running sybase on virtual machines or how can i calculate that total additional cost of running sybase on VMs.

Regards

Licensing costs are going to vary based on a slew of parameters ... product versions, types and numbers of licenses (eg, dev vs test vs prod vs dr vs ???), the level at which licensing is implemented (eg, cpu vs server vs sub-capacity vs ???), any agreements/discounts you may already have with SAP, whether this is a mid-contract modification (could cost you more $$ simply to modify the current contract; SAP's advantage) or as part of a contract renewal (new contract is contingent on your new licensing requirements; client's advantage), etc ... net result is that your best bet will be to contact your SAP sales rep for what it's going to cost to convert your environment.
