I have a universe with 208 joins and 3 contexts. When I add a new join in the universe, it is by default created as a Neutral join from the context perspective. But when I run a report from the universe, I am getting the below error

"The query cannot run, because it contains incompatible objects. See your Business Objects administrator. (Error: WIS 00008)"

The error is getting fixed only if I 'Include' the join in one of the contexts. What could be missing?

It's Neutral by default because of preference settings in IDT. Neutral means join is already available for to add in the context.

Error message you are getting because it seems you have used the object from new table along with the objects where those in the any context.

As contexts are already defined in the universe so you need to add the newly added tables also in any existing context and may ne in new depend on the requirement.

check attached link for more understanding.

Thanks for the reply and I have gone through the blog. So what is meant here is the newly created join, which is Neutral by default, just need to be added to any existing context?

Neutral means join is available to add in the context. By default it's not going to be added in the existing context. You need to add in the existing context.it's not you can add in any context but you have to see the requirement in which context it's going to be fit for purpose.

check attached screenshot of IDT preference.
