Strategy for new plant creation

We are frequently being asked by our business to create new plants in SAP. We normally copy from an existing plant but other than this it is quite a manual activity. Typically it is short notice and we find it difficult to pull together a cross module team to create the plant due to other commitments.

We are wondering how other companies manage new plant creation?

Do you typically ask one person to create all of the necessary configuration or do you have a team dedicated to do this activity?

Do you have an automated way to do this?

Many thanks!

    Rebecca,

We find it difficult to pull together a cross module team to create the plant due to other commitments.

True, some time..we also face this.

We are wondering how other companies manage new plant creation?

We create plant per specs, store copy of documentation in centralized folder, keep in loop via email all concerned personnel.

Do you typically ask one person to create all of the necessary configuration or do you have a team dedicated to do this activity?

It depends. Yes we have dedicated team.

Do you have an automated way to do this?

    No

    Regards,

    Ravi
