hello, friend.

some consequences of one or multiple sales areas:

1. if you have many sales areas, you can have detailed reports (by sales area, sales organization, distribution channel and division)

2. you can create sales area specific pricing conditions

3. you can place restrictions for transactions (sales documents, prices, customers, etc.)

4. you may have to create more master data, as a result of many sales areas (customer, material, prices, etc.)

regards

hi,

can please tell what do you mean by " implications ".

As i understand there is no implication ( if you meant complication ). say even if you have 100 sales areas we can common distribution channels and common divisions to maintain our masterdata's.

as far the assignments of pricing proc, setting up sales areas its all one time effort and not a very hectic job provided its planned well.

Now as one of our friend mentioned there is nothing like keeping or reducing more or less number of sales areas. its all dependant on the business requirements.

Its the perfect analysis which brings us to an understanding of how many sales areas are required.

actually, the sales area is the combination of Sales org, dist. channel.and division.

Creating a more no of sales area is dependent upon ur requirement,

If u have more no of products which having diffent mode of selling which are sold in diff sales organisations, obviously u need to created multiple sales area only.

since the sales areas are the core part of SD, u need to assign all the master datas and document types which relevant to the particular sales area. It is a time consuming job.

A good rule of thumb is to minimize the sales organisations and u can create other organisations as sales offices. (Instead of maintaining 5 sales organisations, u can maintain sigle sales org and others u can create as a sales offices) This will reduce the master data load considerably.

Reward points if uesful.

Hi Friend,

This is not like you should have more number or less number of saled area. It all depends on your requierment. Further you always should minimise the no of division as mostly no of distribution channel will be unchanged. So in this way you don't have more option to minimise of maximise the sales area. However, a sales are makes more refined reports as well as it clreats unnessary comlications too.

So, there is no hard and fast rule what i feel and we should not think of many or lesser sales area. As it should be according to requiement and if you think so it may result in blunder while mapping.

So, if we talk about what if making more only it will impact in maintaing master datas.

Hi,

One thing that comes to my mind taight away is maintenance of master data - i.e, customer master data & Material master data - both Customer master data and material master data have to be mainatianed for each relevant sales area.

Secondly, priciing / account determination are all linked to sales area.
