Including a custom time period characteristic

Hello folks,

For a certain requirement, I am adding a custom info object called reporting period (uses posting period as reference) into the cube.

I am not able the same to the time dimension. Hence I have created a new dimension and added it there. What are the implications of this as it is not treated as a normal time dimension?

Hi,

A few thing jusut came up:

You can not use automatic time conversion , therefore you have to write some routine if you have such a need.

Another handicap can be, if you want to use your cube in a multiprovider, you can not assign your new char ( report period) to a content time characteristic.

( a solution would be to include your report period char into other cubes as well and fill them from the same sources you fill the time char)

Be carefull if you have some non-cumulative key figures .
