Difference between CBS and CMS in NWDI.

Hi Friends,

I am new to this NWDI ,can i know what exactly is the difference between CMS and CBS with respect to NWDI in detail.

Without these two configurations can we work on developing my component application.If atall it is possible what is the procedure.
