Source System Check in Process Chains?

Hi,

does anybody here have the same problem? Whenever (at weekends) a source system is not available for any reason (e.g. Backups) the process chains do not run or end with errors.

Now, we try to resolve this by finding a possibility to check, if the corresponding system is available or not. Is there any process chain item, which can be used? Or should there be something programmed?

The check does not need much functions: In case, system is available, Process chain should continue, otherwise it shall be cancelled.
