Are there any SAP Access Control professionals here?

Former Member

I have searched the Community for SAP GRC and SAP Access Control every day since the new site go-live, and I have yet to find any newly created questions. Is anyone here working in SAP Access Control, or did all the members who used to participate in the GRC discussions drift away after the go live? I had a blog topic in mind, but I am wondering if there is anyone here to read it.

If you work in SAP GRC Access Control, let me know you're here by mentioning what you are working on. At the organization where I work, we recently upgraded from 10.0 SP19 to 10.1 SP12. It was a bigger change than we were expecting for a so-called "technical" upgrade only, and we are sorting through a few unresolved issues, as well as doing the advance user clean-up work for a business roles implementation.

So who else has any Access Control upgrades or exploitation projects underway? Anybody?? Hellooooooo.....

I'm sure people are slowly just finding there way here. You know how it is - who really likes change?

In my free time, I work on all kinds of little improvements in our existing A.C. like implementing HR Triggers (Terminations/New Hire), Model After functionality, upgrades etc... It's never hard to find something to do.

Thanks for the tags!

Thank you for responding, Salim!! Finally I have a response from someone other than a Moderator.<happy dance> I would enjoy hearing more about your HR triggers project. We do not plan to utilize that functionality since so many users here are contractors which are not in HR. We do use the Model User functionality and have had some challenges with it, but our users who submit the requests love it.

I am going to leave this discussion open a little longer to see if we hear from anyone else. I hope you are right and some others will trickle in to the new community.

Colleen,

Thanks for all of that information. The problem with aligning the SAP Community metadata with the product brand names is that those names keep changing, and customers call it what they call it. Everyone I know calls these solutions "GRC". They didn't call it "SAP Business Objects GRC" back when that was its brand name, and if the GRC has been dropped, that is unlikely to stop people from calling it "GRC."

As for the secondary tags, the first four you listed are all obsolete. If "SAP GRC Access Enforcer" is how all the questions are being tagged these days, that is quite unfortunate. To date I am apparently not yet moderating anything. I will moderate the primary tag; I am disinclined to worry about the moving targets of SAP's ever-changing brand names. People searching for help will never find the relevant content if it is tagged with obsolete brand names like Compliance Calibrator, a relic of the 4.0 years, unless that brand name has been brought back from the dead unbeknownst to me.

To me it is "Virsa" and always will be. That tag had better stick around. Oh, wait...

perhaps this points out why marketing should stop re-badging products?

Agree a heap of them are obsolete. I'm with Steve - I still use the Virsa names. I wished the primary tag was GRC (fine split to modules Access Control, Process Control and Risk Management) and then allow secondary tabs for sub modules (EAM/FF, RAR/CC, etc)

Hi Gretchen

I'm backing my suspicion. In SCN 2.0 we had the GRC space which covered Access Control, Process Control and Risk Management as they are all part of the GRC component. I noticed my activity feed getting some GRC posts but they are not in under this tag and I think the main issue is the tag is SAP Access Control and not SAP GRC Access Control (marketing dropped GRC from name sometime this year methinks)

So we have now gone from 1 entry point and space to 22 Tags. I suspect users will post under SAP GRC Access Enforcer as they'll enter GRC and won't see Access Control appear. I have already seen a few in the activity feed

Also interesting is that these product names are quite inconsistent and some should be merged. Why are we splitting our Firefighter and Compliance Calibrator, etc? Why is Compliance Calibrator name used instead of Access

Gretchen/Ale/etc - which tags are you moderating? Do you need to be added to all of the others?

Colleen,

I have somehow missed your post like many others since I don't get proper notifications on content I am interested. Currently I am just following "SAP Access Control" and "Security". I would love to follow whole "GRC" stuff as we had on SCN, but to be honest it's too much effort to go to each tag and check for content. I'd like to have everything related to GRC under an umbrella tag, e.g. "GRC". Also don't understand why we don't have a topic/overview page.

Personally, I am disappointed with what I experienced on the new community so far. And as it seems I am not the only one, since not many posts/questions have been published (or maybe I just didn't see it).

Cheers, Alessandro

Hey Ale

There are topic pages - just not one. http://go.sap.com/product/analytics.html has links to Access Control, etc

I've already raised concern as the community link still points back to the scn.sap.com link for GRC.

As frustrating as it is, it takes about 10 minutes to click through each of the URLs that I posted and choose follow.

For security, I rarely see a post but it might be activity stream is refreshed too quickly.

Madhu and others run a Facebook Page. Might be worth popping over there and giving an update for engaging with the community moving forward?

I'm an Access Control amateur. Do I count? 🙂

It does seem a little quiet around here. I am following the tag, and there have been a few questions, but not nearly as many as there used to be. I hope people will eventually get used to the new arrangements and find their way back here...

Hi All,

In earlier SDN when you used to follow any moderator or topSecurity or GRC, we used to receive mail about those posts in personal mail. Is this functionality not working now.As I'm not receiving any mails from SCN.

Hey

I'm an Access Control observer. I haven't been on a client site in some time so I'm not as active in the tag

As a side note, I still have post-migration activity to retag a heap of my blogs that belong in Access Controls. I think splitting GRC space into a heap of tags has made it a challenge. Not sure if you are moderating all of the tags? Suggest you search the list of any GRC type product names (even fiori have ones)

Of course you count 🙂

So far, three fellow Moderators have weighed in. I don't know if I should laugh or cry. This is pretty sad, y'all, really.
