Why A/c category reference is used in creation of Material Master?

can u explain..

suppose u have 50 differnt valuation class now how u r going to know that for raw material which valuation class is valid

answer is via account category refr. this term serve as a link between valuation class and material type

the need of account category reference is to group together thevaluation classes.

it is used by the system to verify whether the valuation class is allowed when u r placing the valuation class in the accounting 1 view of the material master.

Within a material type different materials can be posted to different accounts depending on their assignment to a valuation class. But we restrict the allowed valuation classes for a material type by assigning a account category reference. So only the valuation classes linked to the particular Account Category reference can be used for matrials within that mtrl type.
