CHaRM Urgent CR Correction Question

I've noticed that in most sims and documentation for SM 4.0 sp13+ that for Urgent CR creation, it is NOT linked to a maintenance cycle.

But in my options the Nomal CR and the Urgent CR creation both need to be linked to a maintenance cycle. Is this how it should be?

I thought Urgent CR are independant of a maintenance cycle.

If the Urgent CR needs to be part of a maintenance cycle than how different is this to a normal CR.

All normal and urgent CR must be related to a maintenance cycle. The difference between both is that the normal CR follows the maintenance tasklist, from where you manage the phase changes for all normal CR. And an urgent CR is assigned its own tasklist which can be completed independantly from the maintenance tasklist.

The maintenance tasklist starts with an 'M' for example M000xxxxxx and the urgent CR task list starts with an 'H' for example H000xxxxxx.

You can see this in the transaction /TMWFLOW/MAINTINST (Change Request Management -> Generate/Execute Maintenance Cycles). Here if you select the Urgent Corrections tab you'll see all you Urgent CR Hxxxxxxxx along with its corresponding maintenance cycle (tasklist) Mxxxxxxx.

    Hope this helps,

I agree with Henry on the fact that a maint. project can have any kind of correction (normal/urgent/test/admin).

Theoratically, your production should be -in time - as stable as can be. So not every day a transport.

      Our situation:

      Before Charm we had about 1.000 transport/month (WB/cust). (I know, it's a lot).

And the developer put it a live whenever he felt to it.

Now, with Charm active (for one month)

We are having about 600 transport/month.

We have several maintenance projects that goes live every two weeks.

These projects are based on modules (one for FI, one for HR, ...)

Urgent correction are still highly used (about 20%), and that figure shoudl be lower over time.
