Extended/Advanced Safety planning - Heuristics and CTM

Hello Guru's,

We have a requirement to use Advanced/Extended safety stock planning methods. If any one could shed some light on my below questions that would be really helpful.

1) Does Heuristics support Advanced/Extended Safety stock planning.

2) What are the steps for setting up advanced safety stock planning with CTM. I have gone through help.sap and am aware of the Lot size setting but i am confused what are mandatory fields and why do we need the safety stock profile to be maintained etc.

3) Do we have any building block or white paper that has the setup for extended safety stock planning.
