Dear Anand

Reservation is internal order and requisition is used to give external order as Purchase order

if the stck of a material is available at stores the user reserved its qty in reservation and take from the stores i.e. reservation

whereas if the stk of the material is not available and he raise the PR (requisition) for asking to procure the mateial to the buyer i.e. requisition

we use MB21 to create Rservation

we use ME51N to create Requisition.

this will 100% clear your query

rewards accordingly

Dear DEVESH,

Thanks for your input.

With Reservation MRP Creates the PR.

Instead of that directly creates the PR also.

If reservation is done also system will not restrict the issue of material to other user who has not reserved.

In that on what scenario and use of this reservation compare to PR.

Please suggest.

ur point is With Reservation MRP Creates the PR.

Instead of that directly creates the PR also.

well it depends upon the mrp type ur using

if ur going for mrp without considering external requirement then system is not going to create pr

even though may be u have a reservaion of any quantity ans stock is not avilable on that date

but if ur going for mrp with external requirement then system is going to condider that reservation

now ur 2 point

If reservation is done also system will not restrict the issue of material to other user who has not reserved.

no this does not happens if u have configured an dyanamic availability check for that transaction code and u r material

then system is not going to issue the reserved quantity to another user who has not done the reservation in case stock is not upto the mark for both requirements

differnce b/w purchase req. and reservation.

purchase req. trigers the procurement process but reservation may or may not trigers procurement process

because if ur using CBP and the planning type does not consider external requirement then reservation will be there for just information and not for procurement

please reward if it sujjestion is of some use to u

broadly reservation falls under 2 categorys

1> reservation planned good reciept

2> reservation for planned good issue

now the case 1 is used only if u r client is not having purchasing component that is of pr ,po etc.

case 2

reservation for issue

is it used if for example u have recived sales order and u want to reserve certain quantity for that sales order as the delivery date in sales order is innear future and u want to make sure that u must get the material as and when nedded

Hi,

The reservations are used to reserve a particular material for a particular requirement (for example maintenance order). If the stock is available for the material, then that stock is assigned to the reservation. If the material is not available, then a purchase requisition can be generated during MRP.

A purchase requisition is generated for the requirement determined at MRP or by user department directly.

Hope this clears your query.
