Preconfiguring MI Client installation in NWCLIENT7.0 SPS12 Patch 08

Hi,

How can I preconfigure the installation file (setup.exe) in folder \DEPLOYARCHIVES\NWM_AWT_WIN32_uncomp.zip. The preconfiguration and generatio of the CAB file was easy, but I can't seem to find the procedure for the Win32 installation.

Thanks and best regards,

Frank

    HI Frank,

Please use the procedure mentioned below

PROCEDURE TO OBTAIN AN UNCOMPRESSED VERSION OF MI CLIENT FROM THE EXISTING BUILD STRUCTURE AVAILABLE AT SMP

The complete client installation for SAP Mobile Infrastructure is delivered NWMCLIENT*P_#.sca where * indicates the SP level and # indicates the patch level. If this NWMClient sca file is opened with an archiving tool like WinZip or Winrar, you would find a file by name NWM_JSP_WIN32_uncomp.sda. On further opening this file, there is another file named NWM_JSP_WIN32_uncomp.zip. This file inturn has two more zip file each named 1.zip and uncompressed.zip.

To obtain the complete structure of uncompressed version of MI Client as delivered in SP13 or lower versions, please follow the steps mentioned below:

Step1: In the zip file1.zip there is a folder named Client which inturn has a folder named setup. Extract the complete contents of the setup folder to a directory (say C:\MIClientInstallation) on your local system.

Step2: Once extraction is completed, create a new folder named Program Files under the directory C:\MIClientInstallation.

Step3: In the zip file uncompressed.zip there is a folder named SAP Mobile Infrastructure. Copy the entire contents of this directory to C:\MIClientInstallation\Program Files and hence the final directory of uncompressed MI Client would be present under C:\MIClientInstallation\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure and the setup.exe for installing this uncompressed version would be present directly under C:\MIClientInstallation.

The structure that is available after Step3 would be same as the uncompressed version of MI Client as delivered in SP13 or lower versions

For uncompressed version for PDA installation, use the NWM_JSP_WINCE_uncomp.zip under which you will find cabbuilder.zip. Further inside you have cab folder which contains the complete folder structure of MI for a PDA. Repeat the three steps as mentioned

    Hope this helps

    Best Regards

    Hi Sivakumar,

I performed every step from you instructions. Then I modified the mobileEngine.config (parameters and server address for instance) in the SAP Mobile Infrastructure folder inside of C:\MIClientInstallation\Program Files\SAP Mobile Insfrastructure (C)\settings just to test. Then there is a step which I miss, where can I find the new setup.exe file (about 33MB) which will have inside the new structure of the SAP Mobile Insfrastructure (C)\ with the modified mobileEngine.config.?

    Thanks and best regards,

    Frank

      Hi Frank,

I am afraid you will not get one file which is of around 33 MB. Instead you will have to roll the contents of the C:\MIClientInstallation folder which internally has the setup.exe file (May be you can zip this contnent and then roll it out) When you run the setup.exe file, the installation will by default contain the changes you have performed to the MobileEngine.config file. Hope I am understood.

      Best Regards
