leave request failed to update the database

Hi

I can create a leave request in the backend for a user and the manager user can also approve it from the business workplace in transactionSBWP.But those leave requests are not getting updated in the DISPLAY DOCUMENTS(DATABASE OF REQUESTS)in transaction PTARQ.But those requests are getting updated in the CHECK LEAVE REQUEST in the same transaction PTARQ.

Iam using the workflow WS12300111 for the leave request.I have done all the customization. But Iam doubtful whether the create reports and variants in the leave request customization be done.

Please suggest.

Regards

Debasish

Don't you have to schedule the RPTARQPOST report?

This report will check all the approved leave requests and post them to the database (create the corresponding IT 2001)

Hope this helps

Hi Andy

Thanks for the reply. The leave request is now updated in the database. But it is not reaching the approver's inbox. The workflow is started.

Can you tell me in detail hoew to schedule the reports RPTARQPOST and RPTARQEMAIL.Whether they should be sceduled with variants or as background jobs.If variant, then what should be the variant?

Depends on your client wishes.

I would schedule it daily (or maybe twice a day maximum), with a variant as a background job.

Check the possibilities in the emailing report, the post report has to be scheduled with the test option not marked of course.

Hi Debasish,

Did you check the workflow to see if the manager you were checking on was one of the 'possible agents'? Could it have been routed to other Approving Officers instead?

You can find this information in transaction PTARQ just for information:

1) Go to Display Documents (report RPTARQDBVIEW) option. Run this report with the necessary selection screen criteria. You will be returned with the list of requests.

2) Select leave request and click on the 'Workflow' button on the tookbar.

3) Drill into the details and look at the agents container for this workflow.

I hope this will help you in your investigation.

Cheers,

Damien

debasish,

Not sure what you mean whne you say it is not reaching the approvers inbox. The leave reuest cannot be posted or created in IT2001 until it has been approved ( assuming that the leave request has been set up as apporval required and WF assigned).

The frequency and the variants for Scheduling the reports depend on you requirements.

You need to look at the program and your client requirements. This is something you have to decide than someone suggesting it.

Hello Debashish,

Which version are you using? Do you mean sending the Emails to the approver or to workitem to Approver's inbox.

The leave request process through the portals just updates the CATSDB table and the related WF tables. IT does not update Infotypes. For that particular reason you will need to run RPTARQPOST as mentioned above
