Creating transports in QA system

Hello experts

We have had to apply a snote in our qa system (path issues), which worked fine.

The issue were having now is that when we have released it and the transport has created a log entry but noting else. Can anybody advise why the qa can't create transports, or where the transport has been created (the transport looks fine in se10, etc

Thanks in advance

Ian

Hello Ian,

Yoour initial description of the issue is not very clear.

You mentioned: "We have had to apply a snote in our qa system (path issues), which worked fine.

The issue were having now is that when we have released it and the transport has created a log entry but noting else"

What have you released ? Also where has the transport created a log entry. Also one concern why the SNOTE was implemented in QAS directly and not in DEV as it should usually be done.

Also what is the OSS note number we are talking about.

The Dev system is ahead of the QA and live systems for the patches, as there is still testing going on before the patches get loaded into QA. SAP advised us to apply the snote in QA by changing se06 and scc4 settings. The snote went in fine and created a transport in one of our clients.

The transport was listed and released fine, but there is only a log entry for the transport and no data file for the transport, so we cannot apply the transport in live.

Hello Ian,

Data file will get created only when you release the transport. However in your case the transport won't have any target and hence even on release it won't create any data file. But don't bother too much about the data file.

But I need the data file to get the transport into the live system, so i'm a bit stuck.

Any ideas???

Thanks

Hello Ian,

I assume you know the transport number. Then in that case create transport of copies requests in QAS with target as intended systems and clients and include the object list of the original transport into these transport of copies. Subsequently release and import these transports into target systems/clients.

I'm sorry but you've lost me a bit there. Could you please expand.

Thanks

Hi Ian,

Your last two posts are a bit contrasting. But apparently the issue is solved. If not please let me know. I would elaborate the transport of copies concept for you.

That must be because your system probably is set to "Changes without automatic recording" in SCC4

The client we released the transport in was set that way, but thats what SAP advised up to do. So I take it if it had not been set as that then the transport datafile etc. would have been created??

Actually, i just read that the tranport was create and released... so the problem must be that you create the transport as a local request.

Check that in SE09

Hi,

Do you have a target system for this transport request ?

When there is no target system, no data file and co file are generated when the transport is released.

Possibly not. How can I check and I take it that this can't be re-applied?
