Activating ICM

Hi,

We upgraded our system frm BW 3.5 to BI 7.0 ,as a part of post upgrade activities, first step says Activate ICM,

Do we need to do this activity for upgrades to BI 7.0 also or is it for only upgrades upto BW 3.5 . If it is for BI 7.0 also pls let me the process.

Did you run SMICM yet? Select 'Administration' - 'ICM' - 'Restart' to startup the service.

Thanq for the reply. little confusion... shud we first give the settings for the ICM in the profile <SAPSID>

icm/server_port_0 =PROT=HTTP, PORT=1080

icm/server_port 1 =PROT=HTTP, PORT=1443

icm/HTTP/server_cache 0 = PREFIX=/.

CACHEDIR=$(DIRDATA)/cache.

What is DIRDATA here.

My question is shud we do these settings first and then run SMICM?

DIRDATA is a varaible.

so, type it exactly as you did in your post, do not substitute it with anything else.

after changing these settings, you will need to restart your SAP instance.

check status in SMICM, everything should be green.

also activate objects in tcode SICF (more at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/55/33a83e370cc414e10000000a114084/content.htm )

Hi all,

Thanq Haynes & Eric.

ICM is active now.

Now that we are upgraded to BI 7.0(post upgrade activities are not yet started), i tried to run a query in RSRT, it gave me short dump.

Do I need to run any program to chk these queries or shud I complete the whole post upgrade activities n thn chk the queries.

Same is the case when i tried to run the queries on the WEB.pls let me know if thr are any web settings to be done(how can i test web report).

my last query...In NW 2004s ...does WAD require BI-JAVA stack.

BI 7.0 required useage type BI - JAVA with portal

Hi all,

Is it a must to install BI-JAVA ( BI 7.0) to use WAD . Cant we use BEx Web 3.5 runtime?

If it a must can any one pls tell me whr can I find how to install BI-JAVA stack on non unicode system.
