Document Numbering in SBO 2005B

Hi everyone,

I want to know that is it possible to make two types of Document Numering System in One Marketing documents like A/P invoice, A/R invoice etc.

For example there are two types of sale or purchase in one organisation like wholesale sale and retail sale and in the marketing document of A/R invoice I need for wholesale sale document numbering as WS/001 and for Retail Sale it should come RS/001. How this can b done in SAP 2005B version with patch level 35

Would appreciate if you can help me out in this.

    Dear Junaid,

Please go to Administration - Sytem Initialisation - Company Details - Basic initialisation Tab - there you can find a field named as Permit more than one document Type per series, check it ( You will not be able to check to an already existing Database since it will be greyed out can do it to a new database only).Once this is done in the Administration - Sytem Initialisation under Document numbering you will be getting 2 tabs named relate series to document and numbering series.

Now go to Relate series to document and double click the document you need to open or name the series for... the series window will open and now click on the new button ..the numbering series window will open here you can name the series as per your requirement.

Hope I have answered you question.

    Please reward points if useful.

      Hi Manisha,

Its not possible to have same numbering order for different series. The error message "overlapping the series" will occur if you are trying to set same numbering order to more than one series.

      For Example:

It is not possible to create two series- Dom & exp. with same number i.e 1,

but alternate way is to use series 1 to 1000 for DOM and then 1001 to 2000 for EXP.

Hope this has cleared your question.

Go to Administration --> System Initialization --> Document Numbering, double click the column grid, The

Series <Document name> - Setup window will be opened, by default you cud see Primary series, rename it as 'Whole'. Right Click the Column grid here --> Add Row, Name the next series as 'Retail'.

give the necessary suffix n prefix 'WS' and 'RS'. Update.

now while u open the document towards the right top corner, you will see a drop box for Document Number wen ur doc is in add mode. choose ur desired series and add the document.

if needed automatically go for a format search to bring in your desired document number.
