QM in procurement - Inspect partial quantity

Hello all,

In our incoming quality process we have the following requirement: when we do the GR we want only part of the lot to be put in quality stock. The rest should go to unrestricted use.

Samples don't seem to cover this requirement.

Do have any idea on how to solve this issue?

Thanks!

Isabelle

I'm trying to understand the purpose to think an option.I'm wondering what if the qty that goes in to QI is rejected from inspection and the rest is in unrestricted which will be comsumed.Dosent this requirement kinda challenging the whole concept of Quality. Please reply .

Can you through some light on this why do you need some qty to be in quality stock and then UR stock?

Before doing the GR, do you know the % of the qty?

In fact it's a sampling process where only the sample goes into quality stock. The production team doesn't want to have the material blocked by the quality team to have lean manufacturing.

No. There is not a standard way to do what you want to do.

If you want all the material to go to unrestricted inventory anyway, and you don't consume the material in testing, why does it matter if the sample qty shows in the QI stock anyway? Your sampling procedure should indicate the amounts/numbers needed for testing and the sample drawing procedures can be printed out for reference. This information is also readily available in various screens so a tech can easily see the qtys required.

If you really want to get it to QI you can try to work the system in two ways.

First, specify that all material go to unrestricted inventory in the settings for the inspeciton type. Then you can try one of these two.

1) Create a sampling procedure such that you allocate x amount of product to destructive testing. (i.e control indicators on at least one test indicate destructive testing)

2) Specify a qty for reserve samples.

I'm not sure exactly how the system will behave in these cases with the bulk of the material going directly to unrestricted as I have never had to try it!

In case one, the system will want to consume the material and might not allow you to post it on the stock posting screen. (Don't know if you'll even have this screen available since it all went to unrestricted, but it might since there is a chance you don't destroy all the sample)

In case two, again, I'm not sure if you'll have the stock posting screen or not. If you do, you can maybe post the material to stock instead of reserves at this point.

Let us know how you make out.

then best option is, Just do 101, then transfer the stock by mov type 321 and keep it in stock, then you can scrap or keep it for ever for reference.

Or you have to go for physical sample...manually you can do this.

Thanks for your input.

This functionnality doesn't seem to be available in MIGO.

Anyway we cannot have the people at reception manually distributing the materials to different storage locations / stock types.

Hi,

By Distributing to any other store will not solve your problem, this will also create inspection Lot, but for diffrent location.

If in material master inspection setup, inspection type 1 is active , you will always get the Inspection lot on MIGO for that material. If you directly want to post it in unrestricted, you have to deactivate inspection type, But this will post all material to Unrestricted.

hi

iam just putting an light on how we distribute the incoming materials, while making GR for the purchase order ,you can see the Distributing botton in the bottom of the header screen, just press that button you will reach another screen where you have to specify the quantity ,storage location and type of storage.

i have not tried this ,if the material is activated by QM then i think it will apply for whole batch, hence kindly try this in test case
