Hi Rob, you mean TREX?

Hi Rich - thanks for replying.

As I understand it, the Netweaver Search requires TREX to be installed, and we have done that. But the search engine uses TREX to do the work, so I'm asking about the SAP product.

Hi Rob,

as you already did, we have to distinguish between two products/components:

SAP NetWeaver Search and Classification TREX (search engine)

SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search (appliance for connecting searchable systems and for federating search results)

Enterprise Search (ES) as an appliance will be installed by SAP Hardware Partners only and needs to be installed on seperate hardware. ES uses TREX as search engine for searching across business objects and documents/file. TREX will be installed on appliance hardware box as part of the overall ES installation. Current ES version is ES 7.0 SP1. ERP 2005 systems can be connected to the ES appliance by means of connectors.

see ES 7.0 SP1 docu on Help Portal, Connecting SAP ERP Systems

Ralph - thanks for your time and input.

I'm really looking for user experiences on this though. Is it an "Omigosh, I wish we had this years ago" product or is it a "nice to have" or can you take it or leave it?

What kind of impact does it have on the business process?

Rob
