Data conversion- Please help

hello Gurus

DATA CONVERSION PROCEDURE is it something you read and apply in real situation or something you gain thru work experience? wat techniques u need to have if u dont have experience in this procedure?????

PLEASE HELP!!!

    Hi

    Data conversion procedure varies from case to case. Offcourse one of the tool used for data conversion is LSMW apart from other tools.

    Conversion from legacy data to SAP Data is Most important and huge task involves lot of efforts from both the teams

    Summarizing entire activity in few points

    1. Tempaltes are preapred

    2. SAP Feilds Lablel and names are taken to those templates

    3. SAP Feilds are priortised as Required, optional and conditional

    4. Business logic is mapped to each feild. i.e which data from legacy system is mapped to particular feild in SAP. How this extraction will happed all these logic is documented

    SAP delivers Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW) for trasferring data to SAP. This is a highly versatile tool and can load data through Batch Input, Direct Input, IDOC, BAPI methods. Please see the link for details
