EDI order to Sales Order in SAP By Design

Hi,

I would like to understand, how the EDI customer order is going to become SALES ORDER in SAP by Design ERP system?

We are suppose to use AS2 channel between us and VAN provider. What is the suitable document type, which is supported in SAP By Design for sending and receiving messages from and to our VAN partner.
I have read article "integration scenarios of B2B communication", and Integration enablers and OPEN APIs, but not really understand how its gonna work together.

https://help.sap.com/doc/saphelp_byd1705_en/2017.05/en-US/PUBLISHING/IntegrationScenarios.html#BusinesstoBusinessSalesOrderIntegrationwithCustomers

What is necessary to set in ByDesign environment, and what is needed to be developed? Could someone explain it step by step.

Thank you for your answers.

Regards,

Norbert

    Hi Norbert,

I summarized all possible approaches to create sales orders in ByD in a blog post published recently: Create ByD Sales Orders using Web Services. For EDI integration scenarios the B2B collaboration interfaces are the best fit for most customers. However, as John mentioned, you or your EDI provider may have to map ByD message signatures.

    Best regards, Knut

Business ByDesign has no "EDI" connectivity, you need to implement your own software that sits between you EDI provider and BYD. This piece of software will need to do several things

    1. Map data from EDI to SAP friendly

    2. Post into ByD (using an appropriate Webservice, probably managesalesorderin)

    3. Receive the confirmation from ByD that the order has been created and send the sales order number to your EDI provider.

    4. Send to EDI your outputs from ByD (for example shipping status from the appropriate web service)

    5. Handle errors

Some partners have already built this integration either on the SAP cloud Platform or other proprietary middleware/ESB providers.

Hope this sheds some light on the development job needed.
