TREX 7.1 for ESH - can old installation on Windows be reconfigured?

Hi experts,

I am confused. I have tried to search, to read notes and guides, checked PAM, but I am still not sure what should / needs to be done.

My customer has an old (2015) installation of TREX 7.1 which has probably never been really used. It was installed With SAPinst.

Currently, they need to have TREX ESH for several Applications (HR Renewal, Solution Manager 7.2 - ITSM). I am trying to figure out if we really can reuse the current installation of TREX, how it should be changed to an ESH TREX, if it is OK to have it installed on Windows (or if it is mandatory With Linux), or if we have to install it from scratch.

Notes read:

1249465 - TREX 7.10: Installing TREX for Embedded Search. Note says only Linux is supported, that an existing "normal" TREX cannot be reconfigured to ESH.

Other blogs and threads indicate that this is not true, that it is OK to run it on Windows, and to change an existing TREX to ESH it is enough to run the Python script of note 2227741. Is this true? Why does not note 1249465 state this??

Any experience / knowledge / References that can clearify these questions will be greatly appreciated!

Kind regards,

Gørril Vollen
