Are all the applications started and running?

1.

If not - which applications exactly are not running? (by any chance has the PCD Service started?) A default trace might have cast more light.

The default trace might be found in directory

\\usr\sap\<JEE-SID>\<instance-name>\j2ee\cluster\server0\log.

2.

Else, there are not so severe problems (if any). Probably some of the tables / columns, used by any of the applications, have been set names containing special characters or indeed - more than 30 symbols. Some database engines (f.e. ORACLE) have such a restriction with regards to the table/column name.

3.

In case you do use Information Steward the restriction check about the Column Name (to be 30 characters or less and contain no special characters) is implemented only on the User Interface. This means a user can import all of their 4.0 Views and utilize them in profiling/calculating scorecard operations without changing them. However, if a modification to any of the imported 4.0 Views is required, the Column Name would need to be modified to meet this convention prior to saving the changes. Then such message might be recorded in the application logs.
