Material Master Locking

Is there any way to configure the system so that plant level material data can be maintained (MM02) by two different users for two different plants at the same time? Currently, the system locks the material before you even specify what org levels you want to work with so it doesn't appear this would be possible.

I was hoping to find that plant level records could be individually maintained to allow two different plant records to be maintained by two different people at the same time. This seems reasonable from a technical point of view since they are seperate records but it doesn't appear that is an option.

Since SAP is an enterprise/integrated system, master data in all modules will not allow you to simultaneously change the same master record. So your question is not possible system-wise.

Normally, even in information audit and control purposes, this is not allowed - this is to avoid two people changing the same master record and future conflicts in the affected processes
