what is default D in RSDDSTAT statistics ?

Hi Techies ,

My question is what does default D option in statistics maintenance actually do ?

i have read the help.sap.com theories but did not understand .As per help.sap

"If no specific statistics property is set for a query, that is, the default value "D" is set, the system first determines the statistics property for the InfoProvider of the query. If the InfoProvider has "D" as the statistics property, the system reverts to the default setting for the query. Otherwise, it uses the InfoProvider setting (with the OLAP detail level from the InfoProvider setting)."

what does it mean the system determines the statistic property of infoprovider ?

if info provider has settings D , it reverts to the default setting of the query ? Again what does default setting do here ?

I understand by marking flag X and choosing 0/1/2/9 , accordingly the statistics data is counted but by choosing default , what happens at the backend ?

Kindly help me out to understand this.

The default values are defined in the transaction RSDDSTAT (menu Extra).

    • Note that the default values exist for the queries, the infoProvider etc. and could be different.

When the query is set to default, the value used will be the one at the infoProvider level (on the tabstrip InfoProvider of the transaction RSDDSTAT).
