Execution in background of a workbook.

Hi guru,

can i schedule in background a workbook execution and set the result in csv format?

I'm using information broadcasting, but the csv format is not supported.

We need to have the execution of the workbook in a csv file because the number of the records are too much.

We need csv format because the file will be loaded in Access tables

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your answers, but i've just installed the precalculated server.

It works, but i'm scheduling in background the workbook and it's impossible to save the result in csv (only xml, xls...).

open hub service maybe is the better option?

OHS is able to extract data via DTP from any InfoProvider into a dictionary table, a CSV-File or a 3rd party product. You can't use workbooks in this szenario but you are able to create CSV files automatically.

The steps for implementation are

1. define an open hub destination (formally known as infospoke)

2. define data flow (transformation between source infoprovider and open hub destination)

3. define DTP and process chain

4. execute the DTP

Hi Frank,

this is not a good solution. I've to run in background many queries. With open hub i'll have to define different OH for different queries.

The solution is broadcasting..... but itsn't possible to post a csv file!!!! I can't believe that SAP doesn't foresee this scenario.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

you can use the precalculation service to calculate a workbook in background.

[http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/9c/2415407e145c0ce10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm]

The basic requirements for using the service (for example on a client or better a windows server) are

- Microsoft .Net Framework

- SAPGUI >= 6.40

- SAP Netweaver BI Frontend 2004s (BI Add-On)

- Microsoft Excel >= 2000

The precalculations service itself is a component of the BI-Add-On of the SAPGUI.

As soon as you start the (windows) service you can configurate the connection between the service and your BI via transaction RSPRECADMIN (call it on ther gui on the server the precalc service runs on!)

Bye

A workbook can not be run in background.

You will be able to accomplish your requirement using the Reporting Agent functionality of BW.
