Hi,
Can someone send me some details about CO-PA.
My question is, what is the difference between CO-PA, SD and CO?
Can the SD and CO cubes come instead of the CO-PA?
Thanks,
Hi,
COPA:
Profitability Analysis (PA) is an integrated component in the SAP R/3 system.
All of the data related to profitability from the other SAP R/3 applications is mapped in CO-PA in accordance with the corresponding business transactions.
This allows you to transfer into CO-PA billing document data from SD, cost object costs from CO-PC, and overall costs from overall cost controlling.
CO-PA collects all of the OLTP data for calculating contribution margins (sales, cost of sales, overhead costs)CO-PA also has powerful reporting tools and planning functions
CO-PA Cubes:
0COPA_C01 -COPA: Published Key Figures
0COPA_C02 -COPA: CRM Marketing
0COPA_C03 -COPA: Quickstart (S_GO).
0COPA_C04 -COPA: Consumer Goods Industry(S_CP).
0COPA_C05 -COPA: Route Profitability
Please refer to following link for details on each cube

Actually, selection of cubes depends on what kind of scenario customer is using and what analysis customer intends to do.
for ex: 0COPA_C01 cube represents standard Profitability Analysis, consisting of a selection of characteristics and value fields that are found in every operating concern
Whereas 0COPA_C02 cube makes available those key figures necessary for displaying the result induced by marketing. This InfoCube also offers the key figures in the InfoCube CO-PA: Published Key Figures (0COPA_C01), which can be displayed for the marketing campaigns that generated the costs and for the customer dimension.
Check these links for COPA Extraction.

Hi
Find more details on CO-PA here:
http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_02/helpdata/en/7a/4c48c64a0111d1894c0000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
My question is, what is the difference between CO-PA, SD and CO?
CO-PA is a reporting module within CO. CO-PA contains functionality such as derivations to derive charateristic values and valuations to valuate key figures based on costing sheets. In general, a derivation can be thought of as a tye of transformation.
It is a very usefull module to assign characteristic values before it is extracted to BI.
SD is an operational module used for selling. It contains functionality to create sales orders, price products and create billing documents. Have a look here:
http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_02/helpdata/en/90/758534c960a134e10000009b38f83b/frameset.htm
Can the SD and CO cubes come instead of the CO-PA?
Generally not. Since derivations and valuations are used extensively in CO-PA, it contains information that will not be in either the CO-CCA, EC-PCA, CO-OM and SD cubes. An example is the airline industry, where SD could be used for billing cusomters, while CO-PA will be used to calculate the route profiability (e.g. Derive the route, flight leg, origin, destination etc from the flight number and valuating fuel, catering costs etc using costing sheets.). The rest of CO, such as CO-CCA will be used to track overhead costs and revenues per business unit.
